Ever wondered what it's like to grow alongside a company that truly invests in its people? William Ignacio shares his remarkable nine-year journey at Globe, from a near-miss engineering role to a key player in cybersecurity innovation.
For nearly a decade, I’ve had the privilege to be a contributor to Globe’s cybersecurity transformation where we continuously implement security programs to protect our business and our customers from fraud and cyber threats. My primary role is to ensure the delivery of necessary programs and strategic initiatives that enhance our security defenses to minimize risk exposure, recently including Artificial Intelligence. It’s a challenging field, but one that continuously inspires me to learn, adapt, and grow.

The company’s investment in its people has been pivotal in my journey. Reflecting on the person I was when I joined in 2015 compared to who I am today, the transformation is remarkable. Globe has provided avenues for learning and self-improvement that have elevated not only my technical expertise but also my ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse teams.
As an Electronics and Communications Engineering graduate, I eagerly applied for an engineering role at Globe. However, I received the standard reply, 'We will contact you,' which, unfortunately, never materialized. Consequently, I pursued diverse professional experiences across various sectors in semiconductor, telecommunications, offshore services, real estate and even marketing. Years later, I received an unexpected call from Globe about a job vacancy and I gratefully said yes.
I firmly believe in the principle that past experiences serve a purpose, and perhaps the timing simply wasn't right initially. Those intervening years, I believe, were instrumental in preparing me, honing my skills and resilience. Thus, when the opportunity to join Globe finally presented itself, I arrived equipped with a robust skill set and in-depth knowledge, enabling me to perform the role given to me.

In cybersecurity, the threat landscape evolves rapidly where we need to embrace changes with an open mind, continually reassessing processes and implementing innovative solutions. It’s about identifying problems, connecting with people, and finding solutions that make a difference—not just for the company, but for our customers too.
Globe's evolution into a technology solutions provider has unlocked further avenues for innovation. ISDP serving as a Center of Excellence (COE) for security and privacy, as well as operating a centralized Security Operations for the bigger Group, allowed and enabled the Portfolio Companies to focus on their core business. This underscores that our mission extends beyond safeguarding to facilitating progress and growth at all levels.
We remain committed to sharing best practices to enhance our organization's cybersecurity posture and, concurrently, contribute to the improvement of our nation's cybersecurity maturity.
What truly inspires me at Globe is the genuine care from leadership. They ensure we have the tools, resources, and flexibility to succeed. This support allows us to navigate pressures, deliver on commitments, and find joy in what we do.
