In celebration of International Youth Day, three former Ka-Globe interns share how their experiences at Globe Telecom empowered them to take ownership of their growth and step confidently into their professional journeys.

Justine Ariola
Former Intern, Integrated Communications and Digital Advocacy
At the start of my junior year, I felt a sense of emptiness and pressure about where my career was heading, so I decided to open myself up to bigger possibilities by exploring internships. I came across Globe Telecom’s internship opportunity on LinkedIn and decided to take a chance. I lowered my expectations but applied anyway. Third time’s a charm—I got in!

Right from the start of my internship, I felt warmly welcomed and trusted. I was given the opportunity to contribute to tasks even though it was my first time meeting the team. I didn’t feel any rookie jitters—they treated me as someone who truly belonged.
I was fortunate to be part of a team that entrusted me with real responsibilities and allowed me to handle various projects. This trust helped me grow professionally. Although the workload brought pressure, it also encouraged me to believe in myself and push beyond my comfort zone—helping me discover more of what I’m truly capable of.
“For the first time, I felt truly secured in myself and my future, that I am definitely going somewhere.”

Navigating the fast-paced environment at Globe, I learned to communicate confidently and effectively with industry professionals, consumers, and business stakeholders. I also strengthened my project and people management skills through cross-functional collaboration. Most importantly, the internship taught me to demonstrate commitment to growth, embrace discomfort, welcome challenges, and stay hungry for new opportunities.

One of the most fulfilling moments was managing the end-to-end process of the DSWD x Globe of Good partnership campaign, under the guidance of one of my mentors. As part of the campaign, we produced an AVP video where I was able to contribute creative input and dedicate my full time and effort. I was grateful to receive positive feedback after the project’s completion, which made the experience even more rewarding.
“It’s a supervisor’s trust that can take you far — sometimes, all it takes is one person to believe in you and your craft.”
Being part of Globe allowed me to explore my potential, contribute meaningfully, and work alongside people who genuinely believed in my capabilities. It gave me the confidence that I’m on the right path—one that’s not just about doing work, but about building something aligned with who I am and who I want to become. Every project, challenge, and breakthrough reaffirmed that Globe is the kind of environment where I can truly thrive and create everyday possibilities.

The experience gave me clarity on the kind of professional I want to become. More than that, it taught me to take ownership of my growth. I now move forward with a deeper sense of confidence and direction as I move forward in my professional path.
I’ve always believed that:
“What’s meant for you will find its way — but only if you’re willing to do the work, trust the process, and keep showing up.”
There were moments when I doubted myself or felt I wasn’t capable enough—but I made the decision to show up every single day, and that made all the difference. Internship opportunities didn’t always come easily. I applied to many companies and roles, but when the right opportunity came, I was ready because I had stayed curious, present, and committed.
“I am where I belong.”
Christiane Guanzon
Former Intern, Marketing Youth Culture
My internship journey with Globe began when the team visited De La Salle University Dasmariñas. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. Beyond the prestige of joining a well-known company, I was especially drawn to Globe’s strong connection to technology—something I’ve always been passionate about.
Before starting, I was overwhelmed with the thought that working in a large company would mean towering workloads and a high-pressure environment. Stepping into a professional setting for the first time was intimidating because everything felt unfamiliar. But those feelings began to fade thanks to my team’s warm and welcoming nature. The strong camaraderie within the Win The Youth team helped me settle in and eventually feel like I truly belonged.

As an intern, I had the opportunity to help fellow students get closer to their passions through events, volunteering activities, and other youth-led initiatives. One memorable moment was during DLSU’s University Mission and Vision Week, where I helped oversee Globe’s #GoForIt booth. On one day, I briefly took charge of the Student Ambassadors assisting at the booth. While it wasn’t a major leadership role, it gave me a real sense of responsibility. I had to guide, teach, and monitor the team while ensuring we engaged students effectively.
“That experience taught me how to lead in small but meaningful ways.”
The camaraderie and mentorship of my team allowed me to grow and gave me the confidence to step up, share ideas, and innovate without fear. I was in a space where every contribution was valued. I developed skills like adaptability, especially when facing unexpected challenges during events. I also improved my communication skills by working with different teams—skills I continue to apply today when solving problems and collaborating with others.
“Our goal was to bridge the youth to various opportunities by creating spaces where they felt empowered and connected.”
My internship at Globe changed the way I saw the corporate world. It made me realize that with the right people and strong camaraderie, any challenge can be overcome. I also discovered a deeper interest in events and activations. Being part of meaningful projects that reflected my values made the experience all the more fulfilling.

To students and young professionals just starting out, my advice is simple:
“Never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.”
Take risks—because that is where growth begins. At first, I was intimidated, thinking Globe’s environment would be overwhelming. And honestly, sometimes it still felt that way. But once I found the right people to connect with, everything became less daunting. I’m truly glad I took that step because it opened doors to opportunities I never would have encountered had I stayed in my comfort zone.

Everything started with that one leap of courage into the unfamiliar. That decision allowed me to contribute to projects that made a difference—not only for myself but also for the students I helped serve. I have no regrets, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Take a leap and create impact.”
Seth Torres
Former Intern, Events and Experience Team
In my final semester at Centro Escolar University (CEU) as a Communications and Media student, I had completed most of my major and general education subjects, with my thesis nearly done. My last step was the Practicum/Internship—an opportunity to finally apply my four years of education to real-world work.
As someone who had always been interested in the industry, I wanted to deepen my knowledge of marketing and PR while honing my skills. After multiple applications, I was lucky enough to join Globe’s Events and Experience team as an intern.

From the moment I first arrived at The Globe Tower, any concerns or anxiety I had about my internship were eased by the warm welcome and reassurance that I would be in good hands. Meeting the Events and Experience team—Sir Abe, Miss Chabs, Miss DC, Miss Marish, and others in the marketing department—helped me feel that I truly belonged.
My role allows me to work on many of Globe’s activations and events throughout the year. My first project was Art Fair 2025 in Ayala Gardens, where I saw firsthand how Globe created great experiences for students like me. Another experience was during Globe Panagbenga 2025 in Baguio, where I was part of booth operations. Moreover, one of my final projects was a campus tour for various universities, where I gave a talk at CEU on behalf of Globe. Fun fact: I am the first CEU student to intern at Globe Telecom. In my talk, I ended with one particular line:
“I may have been the first student from CEU to intern at Globe, but I sincerely hope I’m not the last.”

Working in different fields, different activities, and with different brands within Globe allowed me to really flesh out my versatility. My time at Globe shaped the career I want in marketing, the way I interact with people, my standards for events, and my disposition towards people and the work that I want to do. I hope young professionals like me can gain the confidence that I know can feel terrifying in the working world.
“I grew from a timid, and quiet observer, to someone who actively participated in projects, interacting with customers and overall just being more outgoing both professionally and even personally.”
I want more people to experience the friendly, highly skilled professionals I worked with, the welcoming and creative environment that welcomed ideas, and the care and trust they extended to everyone in their team. I want to use my own voice and platform to help young professionals like me become aware of these opportunities and take them.

“It can feel daunting to work with people who have years of experience beyond your own, but the only way to gain skills is to put yourself in a position to learn.”
I can truly attest that Globe gave me, as part of the next generation, the tools and the keys to unlocking my full potential.
This International Youth Day, we celebrate the courage to leap, the grit to grow, and the power to create everyday possibilities.
Taking the leap is never easy. If you’ve made yours, share it. Your story could be the reason someone else finds the courage to begin.
