What does it mean to impact the lives of customers? Vinnie Calnea from Broadband Group shares what it means to her and how it helps drive her purpose that is centered around the people and culture around her!
I’m Vinnie Calnea, and I lead the People and Performance Team within the Broadband Business Group. With 8 years at Globe, I’ve come to see it as a company brimming with opportunities where anyone can succeed, as long as they stay driven and committed to continuous growth and learning.
In my previous roles, my focus was on satisfying clients, but here, I have customers whose lives I can truly impact. It didn't take long after joining that I realized my work was far more meaningful than I had anticipated. Offering affordable, fast, and reliable fiber internet helps improve the lives of Filipinos. Being part of that mission every day may not always be easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.

Back in 2017, I came across a job posting online that seemed like a perfect match for my background. After three interviews, I received an offer and was hired within two weeks. I was really impressed by how quick and efficient the recruitment process was!

I started as a training manager, and a lot has changed over the past eight years. My role has since evolved to focus on driving performance, fostering collaboration, improving employee retention, and building brand affinity. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m truly grateful for everything – especially the support of my various bosses, who provided me with exposure, guidance, and a safe space to fail, succeed, and grow.

I remember my journey in establishing Globe's first Fiber Lab. The trust and unwavering support from the late Miss Issa Cabreira (former CCO) and my boss, Danny Theseira (Broadband Group Head), to create a lab focused on providing exceptional hands-on learning experiences in fiber technology and the possibilities of IoT (Internet of Things) devices for our fellow Ka-Globe and partners was truly overwhelming. The pressure to deliver was immense, but with teamwork and collaboration, we successfully launched the lab. To this day, it remains a valuable part of Globe's new hire onboarding process.

“Creating everyday possibilities" is a principle I try to live by, as it fosters an active mindset over a passive one. In the Broadband Team, we’re always looking for better ways to do things and staying open on how else we can better our best. In this type of environment, the best approach is to keep learning and evolving.

The possibilities I see here at Globe aren’t just limited to work-related aspects. Keeping employees highly engaged is a top priority for me. We organize various activities that promote work-life integration and overall wellness, such as running, pickleball, badminton, basketball, offsite team-building events, Ironman Relay Teams, and more. These activities not only help me maintain an active lifestyle but also allow me to connect with my teammates over things I’m passionate about. For instance, organizing the Ironman relay teams was both fun and fulfilling, as it gave me the chance to help others experience the excitement of an Ironman race. Each day, I’m reminded of how much Globe cares—not just about the work we do, but about how we do it and why we do it. This is a value I carry with me as I continue to grow and contribute to the same culture that gave me the opportunity to make an impact.
