Data is the new oil—it’s a powerful tool that fuels decisions, drives innovation, and shapes customer experiences. At Globe, data analytics plays a vital role in creating everyday possibilities. To strengthen this capability, Globe introduced the Data Analytics Bootcamp (DAB), a program that helps fresh graduates and career shifters gain the skills, confidence, and experience to thrive in data-driven roles.

About the Program
The Globe Data Analytics Bootcamp (DAB) is a 12-week intensive training and employment program designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. It aims to enhance the skills of new hires—early-career professionals and career shifters by equipping them with data science methodologies relevant to the Globe ecosystem. Through this initiative, participants are empowered to drive innovation and strengthen Globe’s technical capabilities in analytics.
The program is in partnership with Eskwelabs, an online upskilling school that provides accessible and high-quality education in data analytics and data science. Eskwelabs facilitated over 72 hours of face-to-face learning sessions, hands-on activities, sprint presentations, and a culminating capstone project.

Program Lead Mark Lawrence “Marky” Malabanan, Sr. Capability Development Lead from the Data Strategy Team of the Enterprise Data and Strategic Services (EDS) said that the Bootcamp was created to address Globe’s growing need for data storytellers, model developers, and visualization experts. This is aligned to their team’s people strategy on Attract, Hire, Train, and Retain (AHTR). The program served as a platform not just for new hires but also for career shifters in Customer Data Analytics (CDA) to build confidence and adapt to data-focused roles through practical training in machine learning and big data analytics. On a larger scope, DAB was also extended to B2C Territory Management and Synergies to support the formation of the new Territory Business Analytics Team.

The Globe Data Analytics Bootcamp ran from June 25 to September 1, 2025, and concluded with a graduation ceremony celebrating 17 cadets—10 who stepped into new data analytics roles and 7 career shifters who were upskilled to take on new positions. Let’s hear from three of its graduates, Brynx Junil Alegarbes, Arianne Nicole Mendoza, and Kenrick Nocom, as they share how the Bootcamp shaped their growth and journey in data at Globe.

As a fresh graduate eager to begin my career, I discovered the DAB while searching for my first full-time role. I was immediately drawn to the opportunity to kickstart my dream job as a data analyst or scientist, knowing that Globe is a company at the forefront of data innovation, trends, and AI.
Since the bootcamp followed a hybrid setup, my days were a mix of attending classes, accomplishing bootcamp assignments, and performing business-as-usual tasks. Mornings were usually spent generating dashboards, working on slide presentations, or programming, while afternoons were dedicated to our classes with Eskwelabs instructors. During these classes, we also had mini-presentations and group meetings to discuss our capstone projects and other tasks.

The most challenging part was definitely keeping up with the fast pace while balancing projects and my regular tasks. Concepts that usually took months to study in university were covered in just a session or two, so it could feel overwhelming at times. What helped me get through it was the support from my peers. My fellow cadets, especially those who had been with Globe for years, were always generous in sharing their knowledge and guiding us new hires. Our team also showed understanding when it came to adjusting work deadlines so we could focus on learning. That kind of support truly reflected Globe’s culture of care—a culture I continued to experience from the bootcamp to my landing team, where everyone genuinely cared for one another and wanted to help each other succeed.
“I was truly fortunate to have people around me who would never fail to lend a hand whenever needed. I will always remember this and let it keep me grounded, reminding me not to be afraid to ask for help, because there will always be someone willing to listen and support you.”
Moments with the Territory Analytics Team and Bootcamp cadets
I was honestly surprised to receive the Sprint 1 Champion, Sprint 3 Champion, and Most Valuable Team Player awards. Everyone in the Bootcamp came from strong academic backgrounds and brought excellent skills to the table, so I really didn’t expect it. I think what helped was my master’s degree in data science, which gave me a bit of an edge on the technical side. Because I was already familiar with the topics, I was more than willing to help other cadets who had little to no background. I’ve always enjoyed sharing insights and lessons with others, and I guess some of the cadets found my contributions helpful, which led to me being recognized as Most Valuable Team Player. I’m truly grateful and honored for that.

The bootcamp gave me hands-on experience with real-world data at Globe, which was both exciting and challenging. We had to navigate data discrepancies, filter relevant information, and ensure data quality. These are all skills that are crucial in my current role as an Insighting Specialist.
During our Bootcamp graduation, our supervisor reminded us to “stay curious and communicate”. This really stuck with me because, as technology and AI continue to advance, curiosity and communication are essential to navigate a data-rich world. He emphasized that behind every number or figure is a customer. Our work isn’t just about numbers, it’s about providing insights that improve not only metrics but also the lives of Filipinos. Curiosity sparks innovation, and effective communication ensures that insights from technical models are understood and acted upon.

“Data skills are powerful, but what makes you valuable is the ability to translate numbers into insights and decisions.”
For anyone considering the Bootcamp or a career in data analytics, my advice is to go beyond just learning the tools. Focus on asking the right questions and connecting your analysis to real business problems. Stay curious, embrace mistakes as part of the learning process, and let every challenge sharpen your thinking. Most importantly, build strong relationships because collaboration and communication will amplify your impact far more than technical skills alone.

When I received my job offer from Globe, the timing felt almost meant to be. I was in the middle of a five-day silent retreat, praying for clarity about my career path after college. After breaking the silence, Globe’s offer came—I didn’t expect it at all, but somehow, I knew it was the answer to the prayer I had been asking for. Religious beliefs aside, I felt that DAB was for me because the bootcamp offered exactly what I was looking for: a chance to learn, upskill, and find the balance between business and technical expertise that MIS graduates like me strive for.
“I wanted to learn more, and Globe’s Data Analytics Bootcamp gave me that opportunity both through a classroom setup and practical applications.”
I would say the most challenging part of the bootcamp was the Capstone project. It was the culmination of everything we learned, and it had to be something that could be utilized later on by our assigned teams. Balancing it with our daily work wasn’t easy, but I managed to push through with the help of my groupmates-turned-friends. We collaborated closely and constantly consulted with our heads and supervisors. And oh, I can’t forget the food and coffee that definitely bound us!

I didn’t expect to be recognized as Outstanding Cadet or for our team to win Best Capstone Project. These awards were the result of both personal and collaborative effort. I focused on understanding the business problem, shaping our data into a clear story, and staying proactive to help the team start and finish on time. None of this would’ve been possible without my groupmates, who adapted to each other’s styles and always supported each other’s growth.
My favorite and most memorable moment from the Bootcamp was our graduation. It marked the culmination of 10 weeks of hard work, and it was made even more special by the presence of not just our immediate supervisors, but also Globe’s VPs. I felt truly valued as Ms. Jenny and Ms. Evelyn took the time to speak with us and share invaluable insights from their experience. In my short time so far at Globe, this moment stood out as a testament to how grounded our leaders are, and it also highlighted the company’s ability to recognize and celebrate efforts when they are due.
I also carry with me a simple but powerful reminder from Marky, one of our mentors. At a time when I doubted my contributions, he assured me that every role in a team matters and that collaboration is what truly drives success. He validated my efforts and emphasized the importance of trusting both yourself and your teammates. That reassurance helped me overcome impostor syndrome and reinforced the importance of trusting both myself and my teammates.

“We need to know how to work as a team, to leverage the strengths of our members, and more importantly, trust in your and their capabilities and support as necessary.”
In my role, I’ve seen how data analytics not only supports technical work but also guides on-the-ground operations. Without data, it’s comparable to working blindly. Data is our partner that either validates our actions, guides our principles, or even negates our hypotheses (which is totally okay, too!). I believe that given the data maturity of Globe, analytics has become deeply integrated in our day-to-day activities that without it, many critical functions may suffer. In my current role where I support the territories, it carries that same level of importance.
If you’re thinking about joining DAB, remember that while it’s important to always strive for growth by upskilling, it’s equally important to grow fond of learning the business itself. Our technical skills can only do so much, and we can maximize their impact if they are supported by, or grounded in, the business and industry context. That’s why, as we participate in bootcamps like this, it’s just as necessary to immerse ourselves in the business, talk to experts, and learn from them. This approach truly underscores the need for a systems-thinking mindset in all that we do.

Kenrick Nocom
B2C Data Insighting Manager | Globe Prepaid
When I joined the DAB, it wasn’t about shifting careers—I was already handling dashboards, reports, and whitelisting requests as the B2C Data Visualization Lead for Globe Prepaid. For me, it was about going exploring and seeing what other skills I could learn to further enhance my skillset. I wanted to learn more about data science and modeling, especially since I use these same methodologies in my own work and often collaborate with teammates who specialize in those areas. The bootcamp felt like the perfect opportunity to strengthen my foundation and revisit other data analytics skills that are highly relevant to my day-to-day work.

The bootcamp was composed of three major learning sprints, each packed with lectures, hands-on Python activities, homeworks, and a culminating group presentation. Balancing these sessions with my regular deliverables wasn’t easy as I tried my best to ensure my day-to-day deliverables at Globe would not be negatively impacted by the additional work coming from the boot camp. It was a very challenging period, and I just really had to continue pushing and tackling each challenge one step at a time until I reached the finish line. It provided me chances to think of more efficient ways to handle each task and deliverable on my plate, instead of just doing the same old process that I was used to doing.
Sprint 1 Group Presentation in action!
It was challenging but also incredibly rewarding. The bootcamp gave me an actual look into how many kinds of models there actually are and how they are even created in the first place. I was able to try my hand in running a model by using Python and it felt fulfilling after I completed a simple one on my own. While I am by no means an instant expert after completing the bootcamp, it was a good way for me to dip my toes in the field and get a better appreciation for it. The skills I’ve learned from DAB will help me in my current role at Globe as a Data Insighter, as I would be more confident in terms of contributing ideas on how to improve existing models, or even create new ones, in the future.
Beyond the technical skills, the bootcamp reminded me that storytelling is just as important in analytics. When presenting data, always consider your audience and what they truly want to see. Ask yourself, “Am I presenting model variables to technical experts, or pitching a business proposal to top management?”. Let that guide how you frame your message. Don’t just create charts and tables with no proper story or cohesion behind them. Always have a story, a proper flow, and a proper conclusion.
Sprint 2 and Sprint 3 done!
My advice for future participants is to leverage your teammates’ strengths. Our bootcamp brought together a mix of tenured Globe employees who were new to data modeling and fresh graduates from the Data Science Cadetship Program who already had strong technical foundations. It was an interesting and productive dynamic where seasoned employees had a deeper understanding of Globe’s data and presentation expectations, while the cadets brought in fresh perspectives and technical expertise. By learning from each other and playing to our strengths, we were able to work more efficiently and deliver stronger outputs.
“If you’re still on the fence about joining a bootcamp like this, ask yourself—are you even a little curious about modeling or AI? Are you prepared to put in some work for the sake of this interest? Who knows? It might just be the first step toward your next calling!”
At Globe, the Data Analytics Bootcamp is more than just training—it’s a launchpad for careers, a space for collaboration, and proof that data has the power to create everyday possibilities.
