Facing Fears and Finding Strength: A Zillennial’s Journey at Globe

Updated: Jan 8

Last August, Gen Z Ka-Globe came together for the Ayala Inclusive Circle, a community across Ayala Group cultivating a safe space for authenticity and connection. Koko Ignacio, Core Portfolio Expert at Broadband Business and one of the participants, shares how he expresses his most authentic self here at Globe.

Working at Globe has been an unexpected and transformative experience for me. I came in as a data analyst, but within just a month, I transitioned into an assistant brand manager role. The pace was incredibly fast — everyone around me seemed to grasp things instantly, while I took my time trying to catch up. I was filled with fear, constantly questioning whether I could keep up.

But despite those fears, I found courage in pushing forward. I’ve realized that this is something you will have to choose. You choose to make it happen for yourself and for others. It could be in the simplest of ways and I started with choosing to show up and being present in the moment and I continue to choose this and more everyday. Don’t just let things happen by chance.

I am forever grateful for my immediate supervisor, whose clear guidance in that high-speed environment helped me navigate my first assignment with the Postpaid team. We worked on creating tiered plans that made sense for customers, ensuring that they understood the value of what they were purchasing. Our team dynamic was strong, and we supported each other through every challenge.

Rawr! Prepaid is a completely different animal, since it’s a highly competitive space and it touches the lives of millions of Filipinos.

Then, I was transferred to the Prepaid team — a completely different animal. Prepaid is a highly competitive space, and its mandate is much broader, touching the lives of millions of Filipinos. I'm glad they saw my potential and gave me the opportunity to be part of this team, as it aligns with a purpose that truly matters to me: uplifting the lives of Filipino people. Imagine empowering a student, who otherwise might struggle to stay connected, with affordable unlimited internet. Knowing that my work helps make that possible is incredibly fulfilling.

But with that greater purpose came greater challenges. My inner saboteur would often creep in, filling me with self-doubt. I began to question myself even more: Am I the right person for this? Could someone else do it better? The team also faced transitions, with friends leaving, and it became difficult to stay focused amidst the changes. But even in moments of doubt, I reminded myself to stay courageous.

In the two years I’ve been with Globe, across both Postpaid and Prepaid, I’ve learned that pushing through challenges is what truly matters.

I am full of fears, but I am also courageous. Being in a tech giant like Globe is intimidating by itself. However, that’s precisely why I trust it will work in my favor. Globe leads the way in tech innovations, and I believe it can do the same for its workforce — molding people into an inclusive, collaborative culture.

Through all the experiences I’ve had here, I’ve learned that it’s not just about keeping up with the fast pace — it’s about learning to collaborate, adapt, and thrive. Learning how to "tango" with people from different teams and backgrounds has been key to achieving our goals. These experiences have shaped me into someone who not only survives in a fast-paced environment but grows and thrives in it.
