Beyond Wonderful Experiences

Updated: Jan 8

How can one person contribute to a Globe of Good? Ianna, an Employee Experience intern, realized that creating smaller, wonderful experiences everyday leads to lasting impact.

Globe is one of the companies I hoped to land an internship with, being renowned in the Philippine market as a strong industry player. I was excited to start my journey as an Employee Experience intern, but I felt a lot of pressure bearing the name of Globe with me.

During my first few weeks, I was getting accustomed to the team culture and was onboarded about the company’s values. I appreciated how Globe always put a premium on treating people right and emphasizing the ripple effect of actions toward creating a Globe of Good. I felt this mantra was integral to my work, making each project much more meaningful. My co-interns and I handled four significant projects: the 2-day WEX Team Norming Event, the Globe Way Campaign, the Globe Meta Museum, and the New Hire Onboarding Planner.

Agility and data were crucial. Many believe HR work is administrative, boring, and repetitive; however, this was very different for Globe. I never would have thought I would learn how to build user experience flows, which helped identify issues users may encounter in any process. It enhanced my crisis thinking and strategic planning skills.

I also discovered and researched the growing metaverse, utilizing several tools for virtual worlds such as Spatial, Monaverse, Decentraland, and Kumospace. I learned how to use AI-driven platforms like ChatGPT, Descript, Kaedim, and DALL-E 2 to enhance the Meta Museum project.

Overall, the role required a lot of technical prowess and a fast ability to grasp new technologies to pioneer new kinds of employee experiences. Discovering these tools and concepts made me realize the significance of tech advancements in scaling the future of work.

It was also important for the team to keep the customer at the core, guided by the mission of co-creating wonderful experiences – a message that Globe has ingrained in me that I keep in mind as I venture into different fields.

Wonderful experiences come in many forms at Globe, and my stint was a bright example of one. The journey as a Globe intern empowered me to go beyond wonderful experiences and create a lasting impact for the greater good.
