Former Employer Branding Intern, HR People Experience Group
When I was younger, I never thought I’d grow to like writing. Back then, English felt more like a chore than something I found enjoyable, with endless grammar lessons, sentence structures, and essay requirements that always left me second-guessing myself. Writing frustrated me because it required me to slow down, think carefully, and find the exact words that captured what I wanted to convey, things I honestly lacked patience for back then.
But over time, I began to see how powerful writing can be. It opened more doors for me than I ever expected—it helped me earn an exchange scholarship, land my first scriptwriting gig, and secure internships I never imagined I’d get. What once felt like a constant struggle eventually became something I learned to appreciate.

When I applied for Globe, I didn’t expect that writing would play such a big part in my role. I initially thought Employer Branding focused more on marketing and events, so discovering that it revolved heavily around storytelling was quite different from what I expected. It was a pleasant surprise, though, since writing had already been one of my strengths. At the time, I was also eager to gain corporate experience, so when the opportunity was offered to me, saying yes felt like the right move.
I admit that taking on the internship was scary at first. I doubted whether I could perform well, meet the expectations set on me, or even balance the role with my academic workload. Still, I pushed myself to take on the challenge and give it my best. And I’m glad I did. The short three months I spent at Globe were truly memorable, teaching me so much as someone just beginning to explore her career.
In my role, I worked closely with my co-intern, Gail, throughout every project. From ideating and brainstorming concepts to connecting with people, gathering their insights, and turning their experiences into meaningful articles, graphics, and videos. At first, I wasn’t too confident in myself and often second-guessed whether my work was enough, especially since this was my first corporate internship. But working alongside Gail made the process less intimidating and much more fulfilling. I was grateful to have someone I could collaborate with, share ideas with, and learn with. Above all, there’s something deeply rewarding about seeing your idea come to life, and that sense of accomplishment kept me motivated throughout the internship.

“Great ideas become reality when you take the first step.”
I’ve had many memorable moments during my internship, most of which came from the projects I was part of. One that stands out was our International Youth Day project, where Gail and I collaborated with interns from the Marketing department to produce a campaign video that celebrated youths at Globe. It was incredibly fulfilling to see our script and vision come to life, from brainstorming ideas and drafting the narrative to filming around the Globe Tower alongside our fellow interns. Being part of both the behind-the-scenes process and the final video that was published online made the experience even more rewarding.
G-Day was another highlight, where we helped distribute hundreds of Globe x Great Place to Work® tote bags to employees. It may sound simple, but it was surprisingly challenging given the busy environment and constant flow of people. I found myself repeating instructions, managing the line, and coordinating with my team to keep things running smoothly. Despite the exhaustion, it was a fun and memorable experience that reminded me how even small efforts matter.

To cap off my internship experience, I also had the opportunity to present my capstone project to the Employee Engagement team. I had spent weeks developing the project, and finally being able to pitch my event concept in front of experienced professionals was nerve-wracking but also incredibly fulfilling. Hearing their feedback and insights inspired me to keep improving and push myself further. It was a moment I was genuinely proud of.

With all those experiences, I have my supervisor, Ms. Diane, to thank. She guided Gail and me with thoughtful leadership and unwavering support, always open to our ideas and helping us turn them into real projects. She encouraged us to take initiative, trusted us to handle our tasks and pursue our ideas, and provided valuable insights that strengthened our work. Beyond her guidance, I also appreciate the moments we got to bond as a team, whether eating out or playing a quick card game, it made the experience more personal and memorable. I learned so much from her, not just about the work itself but also about leading with care, creativity, and respect for others.

“Every challenge is a step forward—embrace it, learn from it, and carry those lessons with you”
My time at Globe taught me the value of staying open to every opportunity. Growth often begins with a bit of fear, but by learning, making mistakes, and pushing yourself, you come out stronger and ready for the next challenge. The skills and lessons you gain along the way will stay with you, no matter where your career takes you.
