Mother’s Day is a special occasion to honor and celebrate the women who have shaped and supported us with unconditional love. In this heartfelt story, Ayrton, a former Globe HR Intern, shares a touching look into his remarkable mother, Rachelle Comla, Senior Director of Internal Audit Group. Through funny stories and memories, he celebrates her dedication, sacrifices, and love.
Today, I’m introducing someone who means the world to me and my family, my mother, Rachelle Comla. My mom is a supermom in every sense of the word, someone who basically does everything for us – either being our first teacher, our protector, our comedian, sometimes even our driver, and most of all, our biggest fan, except being our chef, because she can’t cook. Hahaha! 😂 She is more than just my mother; she is our family’s heartbeat, our guiding light, and our greatest blessing.

She’s been with Globe for over 20 years, working diligently and excelling at her job as a Senior Director of the Internal Audit team, yet she never lets her busy schedule take away from her role as our protector, our first teacher, our comedian, and our biggest fan. Despite her demanding career, she always makes time for us—whether it’s answering our endless questions, sharing laugh-out-loud moments, or simply being there when we need her most.
I’ve never once felt that her work takes precedence over her love for us because her caring heart is always present in even the tiniest gestures.

I still remember the time of my internship with Globe early this year. Every morning, we would leave the house together and back then, I was mom’s driver on duty on the way to work and back home. I always ensured that we’d get to our destination safely. At times, I would have lunch dates with her, libre ni mom syempre! Those moments were truly memorable for me.

Despite her demanding career, she always makes time for us—whether it’s answering our endless questions, sharing laugh-out-loud moments, or simply being there when we need her most.
One of my favorite memories with her that always makes me smile is a recent funny moment that I won’t forget. I was asleep in my room when she came in looking for something. I suddenly woke up because I heard some noise, but I couldn’t see anything yet because I slept on a loft bed. When I looked down, I was startled and screamed because I saw a person looking up at me—turns out, it was just my mom. She laughed so hard when I screamed, and her laughter was contagious. She knew I’ve always been easily startled and scared as a kid, and that moment was her way of showing her love—by making me laugh and calming me down in her own playful way. It’s moments like these that remind me how her love is expressed in everyday acts of kindness and humor.

If my mom were a superhero, her superpower would definitely be “mom sense.” It’s a special instinct she has that makes her an incredible mother. She knows us so well—she can tell when we’re upset or not, she knows our favorite foods, the clothes we like, and even what we’re afraid of. No matter how old we get—her three sons, who are now young adults—her motherly instinct doesn’t fade. She always asks if we’ve eaten or if we’ve arrived home safely. Despite our age, she still worries about us and makes sure we’re okay. That’s her unique superpower—her ability to love and care for us unconditionally.
Describing my mom in one word? It would be “heart”—because she’s the beating core of our family, radiating unconditional love, kindness, and selflessness. She’s the person who makes every effort to see us succeed and be happy, often putting our needs before her own.

Honestly, in any family argument, obviously, my mom definitely wins! Hahaha! 😂 I never did well in any arguments with her because 99% of the time, she’s right. Our disagreements usually start from me not doing something she’s asked me to do multiple times. It’s hard to win those fights because her wisdom and experience are unmatched, and I know deep down she always has our best interests at heart. I also find myself laughing because I know she’s right most of the time, and I can’t argue my way out of it.
My mom inspires me every day. She’s set an incredible example for me—not to be too content with what I have, but to dream big, work hard, and work smart.
My mom is not only loving but also incredibly funny and playful, so there are a lot of things she does that make us laugh. One of the craziest and funniest things she did recently was when she pranked our Tita—her older sister—by pretending to be a receptionist at our hotel. She acted so convincingly that our Tita fell for it entirely, and we couldn’t stop laughing at her playful, crazy side. Moments like these show her lively spirit and remind us to enjoy life and laugh a lot.

My mom inspires me every day. She’s set an incredible example for me—not to be too content with what I have, but to dream big, work hard, and work smart. She always reminds me to make the best use of my opportunities and resources because these are essential in building a future I can be proud of. Her constant support motivates me to push myself and strive for success in life and in my career.
Mothers are truly special because of their selfless, unconditional love. What makes my mom particularly unique is her relentless dedication to her family’s happiness and her unwavering support. Seeing her happiness when she sees us succeed and be happy truly makes her one of a kind. She’s always thinking of what she can do for us, and her love is endless.

This Mother’s Day, I just want to spend quality time with her and my family—sharing a simple dinner or a quiet afternoon at home. It’s the small moments like these that mean the world to her.
Finally, Mom, no words can express how grateful I am to have you as my mom, and I couldn't ask for anything more. May you continue to have all the blessings the world has to offer. Thank you, Mom! We love you! Happy Mother's Day! 💐
